Best Summer Activities With Your Pup

Are you and your pup feeling energized by the spring warmth? Well good news… the days are only getting longer and sunnier because summer is almost here! And that means it’s time for you and your pup (and maybe some friends) to plan fun, outdoor activities to maximize this good weather. If you aren’t sure where to start, here are our favorite warm weather activities for fun bonding moments with your pup. Don’t worry, these activities are great both for pups who seem to have an endless supply of energy and those that like to lounge around all day!

Get outside!

Nothing says seize the day like getting out into nature as the weather starts to warm up! Whether your pup is up for anything or prefers more low-key fun, you can both frolic in the sunshine in a variety of ways. Take a walk (or a swim!) on a dog-friendly beach, go for a hike in a state or national park, or sunbathe in your backyard or local park. Have a backyard? Set up a splash pad or kiddie pool for your pup to splash around while you play fetch. Be sure to end the day with a picnic with you and your pup’s favorite treats.

Netflix and chill

If you and your pup are all tuckered out from having tons of fun in the sun, take it back indoors, call dibs on your favorite spots on the couch, and prepare your favorite theater snacks (buttered popcorn anyone?) for a rainy day or evening movie marathon. Start off with one of our All Time Favorite Dog Movies and be ready for the marathon to turn into a full on snugglefest. We can’t think of anything more relaxing.

Play tourist in your own city

Although you and your pup may already have your favorite local spots, there is no time like a summer long weekend to discover some new ones! Spend a day exploring a new area or neighborhood, trying new treats, and meeting new people. Or, take a self-guided tour of you and your pup’s “greatest hits” spots. Who knows, you may find a cool new backdrop for a spontaneous Fourth of July-themed photo op.

Enjoy a weekend getaway

If you and your pup are feeling extra adventurous, pack your bags and get out of town for a change of scenery. Immerse yourselves in nature with a camping trip, or splurge on relaxing and pampering experiences (dog yoga is one of our favorite ways to strengthen your bond with your pup and get a great workout together!). No matter what mini summer vacay you choose, you and your pup will return home recharged and ready for even more summer fun.

Take a drive

Put on your favorite playlist, roll down the windows for your pup to get some fresh air, and hit the road. This is a great way to explore new parts of your town or city and find your next great hike! Exploring the country with your pup in van life fashion is becoming increasingly popular and we understand why!

Make it a playdate

Has your pup been missing their BFFs (best furry friends) recently? Turn any summer activity you and your pup choose into a party by inviting your pup’s besties and their parents to join in. Whether it’s your pup’s half birthday or just another beautiful summer day, you don’t need a reason to turn a beach walk into a beach party. After all, the more people and pups there are, the more fun it will be!
